César HARADA is a French-Japanese designer, environmentalist, educator, and entrepreneur specialising in ocean innovation, based between Paris and Saint-Malo, France. Previously serving as Associate Professor of Design at Singapore Institute of Technology, he is the founder of MakerBay Hong Kong makerspace, and Scoutbots an ocean robotics startup, while sitting on the boards of trustees of Wyng Foundation (Hong Kong). He was awarded the Ars Electronica Golden Nica (Austria), with exhibitions at the V&A Museum (London) and ArtScience Museum (Singapore), and his work is in the permanent collections of CNAP (France) and the Mind Museum (Philippines). A sought-after international speaker, César has delivered over 20 TED and TEDx talks and presented at major institutions including the United Nations and Harvard University. His work was featured in the New York Times, BBC, CNN, Nature, South China Morning Post, Fast Company, CNA, El Pais, and WIRED. He was a researcher at MIT (USA), Southampton University (UK), and the Swire Institute of Marine Science (HK), and taught at the University of Hong Kong, Goldsmith University (UK) and ENSAV (École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Versailles, France). César holds master’s degrees from the Royal College of Arts (London) and ENSAD (Paris), and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Design and Ocean Innovation at CNAM (Paris).
